PUBLICATION ETHICS

SPEKTRAL is a scientific journal published through a review process published by the Department of Electrical Engineering, Jakarta State Polytechnic. This statement describes the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the process of publishing an article in this journal, including Authors, Editors, Reviewers, and Publishers.

Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in the peer-reviewed journal SPEKTRAL is an important building block in the development of a coherent and recognized knowledge network. This is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Articles that enter and go through a review process can support and embody the scientific method in publications. Therefore, it is important to agree on standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: Authors, Journal Editors, Reviewers, and Publishers. The SPEKTRAL editor is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. The validation of the work and its importance to researchers and readers should always drive those decisions. Editors can be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and limited by applicable legal provisions, such as defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism. Editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Author Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Make sure that the author meets the criteria as a writer.
  2. Collectively responsible for the work and content of the article including methods, analysis, calculations and details.
  3. State the origin of resources (including funding), either directly or indirectly.
  4. Explain the limitations in this research.
  5. Respond to comments made by partners in a professional and timely manner.
  6. Notify the editor if it will withdraw the paper.
  7. Make a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, has not been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of being submitted to another publisher.

Editor Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Meet the needs of readers and writers / authors.
  2. Seek continuous improvement in the quality of publications.
  3. Implement a process to ensure the quality of published papers.
  4. Prioritize freedom of expression objectively.
  5. Maintain the integrity of the author's academic record.
  6. Provide corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies as needed.
  7. Responsible for the style and format of the paper, while the content and all statements in the paper are the responsibility of the author / authors.
  8. Actively seek the opinions of authors, readers, partners and board member editors to improve the quality of publications.
  9. Encourage journal assessment if there are findings.
  10. Support initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by asking authors to attach an Ethical Clearance form approved by the Ethical Clearance Commission.
  11. Support initiatives to educate researchers about ethical publications.
  12. Assess the impact of publishing policies on the attitudes of authors/authors and reviewers and improve them to increase accountability and minimize errors.
  13. Have an open mind to new opinions or other people's views that may conflict with personal opinions.
  14. Do not defend your own opinion, the author's or third parties which may result in decisions that are not objective.
  15. Encourage authors / writers, to make improvements to the paper to be published.

Reviewer Duties and Responsibilities :

  1. Receive assignments from editors to review papers and send reviews to editors, as material to determine the eligibility of papers to be published.
  2. The reviewer will not review any papers that involve him/her, either directly or indirectly.
  3. Maintain the author's privacy by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, feedback and recommendations.
  4. Encourage the author/writer to make improvements to the paper.
  5. Reviewing written works that have been improved according to predetermined standards.
  6. Papers are reviewed in a timely manner according to the scientific style of the environment (method of data collection, legality of authors, conclusions, etc.).

Publisher Duties and Responsibilities :

  1. Specify the name of the journal, scope of science, scaling and accreditation if necessary.
  2. Determine the membership of the board editor.
  3. Define the relationship between publishers, editors, bestari partners, and others in the contract.
  4. Respect confidentiality, whether for contributing researchers, authors/authors, editors, or reviewers.
  5. Implement norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyrights.
  6. Take journal policy reviews and submit them to authors/authors, editorial board, reviewers, and readers.
  7. Make code guides apply to editors and reviewers.
  8. Publish the journal regularly.
  9. Ensure the availability of funding sources for the continuation of journal publication.
  10. Build a network of cooperation and marketing.
  11. Prepare permits and other legal aspects.
