Abstract

Improving production quality is very important for companies, but this cannot happen if there is still waste in the production process. PT XYZ produces X product containers through several work stations such as prepress, printing, varnish, spot UV, die cutting & peeling, folding & gluing, QC and packaging. Long work stations, allowing non-value added activities such as the length of time waiting for the next process can cause damage to the product resulting in waste. To reduce this, the first step is to identify the waste that occurs. Waste identification is carried out using the value stream mapping method to map the flow of information and production processes and the waste assessment model method to identify waste. It is known that 50% of the lead time is a necessary non-value added activity due to inspection and 10% non-value added activity due to delay. Based on the identification of waste using the waste assessment model, it is known that the highest waste is defect of 23.90% by the type of waste defect, then waste motion 17.95%, waste overproduction 16.62%, waste inventory 12.31%, waste process 11.33%, waste waiting 10.86%, and waste transportation 6.96%.
