MENYELISIK IDENTITAS BARU MASYARAKAT DEPOK, JAWA BARAT: KAJIAN BERPERSPEKTIF SOSIODIALEKTOLOGI

Abstract

People often refer to themselves using the language that corresponds to the name of their region; for example, Cirebonese people always refer to themselves using Cirebonese, not the Javanese dialect. An interesting linguistic thing to research in Depok City is how the linguistic situation in Depok City as an urban area where language contact occurs gives rise to language variations, which in turn brings recognition to the people of Depok City using specific languages ​​as part of the identity of the people of Depok City. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a socio-dialectological design, namely a research approach that combines sociolinguistics with dialectology. Language data was collected using a questionnaire containing 235 questions from 63 sub-districts in Depok as observation points (TP) using the fieldwork method with face-to-face and recording techniques, then analyzed using the dialectometry method. The findings of this research show that, Based on dialectological studies, two different languages are ​​spoken in Depok, namely Betawi and Sundanese. Apart from that, three language areas were found in Depok, namely Sundanese, Pinggiran Betawi language, and Central Betawi language, with the broadest area of ​​use being Pinggiran Betawi language. Based on socio-dialectological analysis, it can be concluded that the Pinggiran Betawi language, which definitively uses the word ora, has begun to fade and is not widely used in Depok society. Still, the Pinggiran Betawi language uses typical words, such as common nouns, which refer to people being called based on gender. And age (wadon, lanang, anak) occupies the largest usage area in Depok. Other socio-dialectological findings show mutual borrowing of greeting words between Betawi and Sundanese due to language contact.
