Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the use of code mixing in communication on the Daffa Gita YouTube channel for the 2022 period. The focus of this code-mixing research was on the conversations contained in the videos on the channel. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods to describe the phenomenon of code mixing in communication. The object of research is speech which includes linguistic units and their causal factors. The research data comes from the Daffa Gita YouTube video for the 2022 period. The author uses listening data collection techniques and the katat technique as a follow-up technique. The theory used to identify is code mixing. This research has important relevance in understanding the phenomenon of code-mixed communication in the context of YouTube culture and social media. The 42 data collected were then classified according to the form of code mixing. The research results found that there are 5 forms of code mixing. Of the 42 existing forms of code mixing, 20 are word form code mixing forms, 02 are idiom code mixing forms, 08 are phrase code mixing forms, 05 are clause form code mixing forms, 07 are repetition forms, and the following are code mixing factors. The factors causing code mixing in the Daffa Gita YouTube channel are (1) Role identification, (2) Variety identification, and (3) The desire to explain and interpret.
